Will fan controller work on CPU fan?

I bought a Vantec Nexus fan controller (NXP-205) and the Vantec Tornado 92mm fan with the idea that I would be able to mount the fan on my Thermalright SLK-948 and control the fan RPM with fan controller. When I received the fan controller I read Vantec is not recommending use on CPU fans.

Note: Nexus Fan Controller (NXP-205) is only
recommended for constant speed fans. Do not
use on any CPU fans, thermal controlled fans,
or adjustable speed fans.

I have never used a fan controller before, so anyone have any thoughts on this?
 
I have a zalman fan controll unit. dial control on both the CPU and northbridge fans with special wiring to plug into your mobo and the fan control unit. Also opperates 2 regular fans wth dial control and 2 more with toggle switch for high/low speed. Nice little unit. Fits 5 1/2 drive bay.

Main thing I can tell you is to not listen to Vantec here, and go on experiences of your peers. I've HAD the NXP-205 running my cpu fan before....as well as 4 other 80mm Tornados.

It's fine dude, if you've already got the fan controller you're perfectly alright to go with it. I mean, it doesnt have an LCD to give you temps or anything....but it DOES do the job as well as the next controller is gonna, and you've got nothing ot worry about.
