Will Bulldozer eventually transcend Intel CPU's?

Did Bulldozer piss you off personally or what?

No, didn't piss me off.
It's just that "Bulldozer" as it is, will never match performance of Intel CPUs. Ever.
The minute it comes "close" in IPC and power consumption, Intel will pull the trigger on the next CPU.
Even if there was a new stepping around the corner, I'm tired of waiting.

Intel = Greed, Greed = Destruction.

when the core 2 duo was launched it was the nail in the coffin. amd has been clawing at the lid for years now but i dont see them digging them self out for a long long time.

LOL Core 2 Duo has been out for 5 years.

AMD kicked their way out of that coffin didn't they. ;)

^^ lol
You Bulldozer guys seem to think that AMD is like some benevolent god that is here to combat the evil demon Intel, while in reality its one small company trying to compete with a massive behemoth of a business. Same type of company, one just sucks at making processors and the other doesn't.

AMD GPU > Intel GPU

:p

In YO face!

:D

yes. if amd works really hard, in a few years the bulldozer architecture may actually beat a core2quad

AMD Graphics division will easily drag them out.

Indeed.

AMD payed like $6Billion for ATI and now the combined value of the company is $3.2B while the GPU division IIRC is hardly at break even level over its entire existence. When will the GPU division cover the ATI investment ? 2099 ?

If AMD's Bulldozer was more powerful than Intel, you would be paying alot more for it, that's buisness. The idea that they gave out the price point of Bulldozer long ago should have tipped off everyone at the performance we could expect.
"If" AMD ever returns to the top, you can expect to pay more for the CPU than you would for Intel. There is no "Robin Hood" here, giving away cheap high performance CPUs to the masses.

Yeah, no kiddin'... maybe like never. You can thank Mr. Hector Scumbag Ruiz for eviscerating AMD. I still don't know why the little ho who passed along all his little "insider trading" bedroom whispers to Raj is in the slammer but he isn't:

I think we all hope that after some tweaks Bulldozer will be come more competitive. But you argument seems to be that BECAUSE bulldozer is such crap currently it's somehow going to be easier to refine. I'd argue that Sandy Bridge is a much better launching pad for the next generation of CPUs. I'd be glad to be proven wrong on this, because as things stand Intel has a monopoly in the purest sense of the word. Consumers will figure that out soon enough.

When my Mom's running Hyper Pi yes I'll know.

Many people seem to forget that. At one point AMD's CPUs were more expensive than most of Intel's offerings were.

Right, so someone comes at you with a reasonable point and you come back with this shit. You're a little troll teletran.

Duck season!

I mean, you're just figuring this out now? :p

He acts like an AMD fanboy but uses a nVidia GPU. Tons of people on this forum have more $ in AMD hardware in their systems than he does.

so, anyone know what Ms. Cleo thinks?

did she say if BD will eventually catch up ?

Let's try and keep this thread civil and intelligent guys. ;)

LOL? Hypocrite much?

On a serious note, I don't think AMD will overtake Intel anytime soon. The only chance is if Intel majorly f***s up Haswell or future generations of CPUs, because at the moment they roughly have a ~2 year advantage on performance and ~1 year advantage in process technology.

I even see the BD3 Steamrolller being just that, it is when AMD will pick up Steam and blow Intel CPU's away for good :D
That's what everyone said about the first gen bulldozer for the past two years.

... and then you ask this after that bait.

You sir are delusional.
