Will BF4 have same horrible server browser as BF3?

If so, it will be the first game in the Battlefield series I will not buy. I finally just got tired of f'd up server browser in BF3 and went back to playing BF2 Bad Company which is what I still play today.

Now with next gen consoles around the corner, PC version of BF4 will likely have even less PC features than BF3. Remember, PC was the "lead platform" for BF3, until about halfway through the development process where they shifted most of the resources to console, leaving PC without finished MP.

its a plague in the battlefield series since 1942... so expect a shitty server browser.

Battlelog is better than any server browser any of the BF games have had, but that isnt saying much.

Dice has always struggled with browsers

I think you should consider just giving up PC gaming. They finished the PC version and then shifted resources to complete the PORT to consoles before release.

If you weren't happy with BF3 MP (and that is your thing) then just give up, seriously you will never be happy. It was far from unfinished.

i was unhappy with BF3 MP not because it was a port or whatever, it just plain out sucked as it seemed to move away from the way the old games played and went more towards a run-n-gun COD style of play. That and removing the commander and such just made it bleh.

I do expect more of the same or worse in #4 which, like op, I will not be buying. Bad Company killed BF since all the other games after it took on its play style.

Seriously , I got use to the browser. Couldn't give a shit less if they use it again. I only want them to get on hackers once they show up in droves versus making us wait months before they bother to deal with it.

Eh .. it's been stated that they switched to consoles being the lead development midway through. I've never read anything to say that they "finished" the PC and then ported to the consoles. That is contrary to what DICE has said in interviews.

I swear i had reinstall the plugin every single time i wanted to play bf3 and then they removed opera support so i just uninstalled bf3. Seriously can't see why anyone would EVER prefer it over a in game browser.

It was a pain in the ass for me, but it didn't bug me too much after a while. Still, awkward to use I guess. I hope they can come up with a better solution.

As long as it's easy to find [H]ard gaming sessions, I'm good. About the only people I like to play with, as you guys don't cheat... Getting hit by a 1911 from across the map for a one shot, one kill was pretty fucked up.

lol the server browser was a rube Goldberg mechanism designed to cut costs to them at the expense of simplicity to the player. The major argument against PC gaming for years has been its simpler to use consoles. BF3 was like 8 steps in the wrong direction. It was how can we make this as complicated and horrible as possible for PC gamers. Rather than having a cohesive experience lets do this.
1 introduce origin
2 make it so your friends list in origin is NOT you BF3 list, wont that be great?
3 Remove server browser from game.

It funny how windows 8 which suffered from the same problems of being very jarring to move between very different interfaces took so much flak but people really didn't make that big of a deal out of BF3 which was even worse. Using a typical valve game goes something like boot up steam, go to server browser, or if you want goto a similar looking server browser in the game, your choice, friends lists also in game or in steam.

BF3 was like boot up bf3, nope origin has no browser and your friends aren't even the same so now goto internet browser, after selecting server go into game, want to check another server? Go back to internet browser. lol honestly I figured it out but I thought ya this is exactly why people say PC gaming is complicated. Don't even get me started on the day 1 lets install 5 different things in order to get this crap running BS.

Well put, I am considering moving to the PS4 when it drops to reduce all the BS..

Actually, a lot of people complained about it quite a lot. The difference being, damned near everyone uses Windows, a small subset of people play BF3, and of those, a smaller subset play it for more than a month or two. Also that Windows IS a UI to most people who don't care about the underlying stuff... BF3 is a game with a shitty UI.

If you want to be butt hurt about something be ass hurt over the Premium edition already god damn for sale!!!

You guys know it is the game you play, not the browser, right?

This does not excuse them from designing something different. A large part of the success of unreal tournament was that they over most companies did a better job including a lot of stuff in the GUI and making it fairly robust. That was till they caught the console bug anyway. Yes ultimately the game is the most important thing but that does not exclude a game from everything else about it, I can promise you millions of people have quit games they very much loved to play for factors outside of the game. Cheating, scripting, bad server browsers, lack of players, unhappy with support from the company.

Second all this BS reduces how many casual people play games. For someone who might only play BF3 a bit, they probably never looked back. That reduced player numbers. And the other thing to keep in mind is that if other games are similar why would I put up with crap, in the case of BF3 its not all that different from COD, CS and the plethora of other realistic shooters.

The browser was horrible. It made it difficult to find the game type you wanted and plain hid several good servers. I ended up just favoriting a few good servers and just using those. Never used the browser again for pubbing. The search feature just did not work well.

The main thing I care about with BF4 is competition features. If they don't give us what we need to play comp.......I don't know. I may just cry and post it on youtube.

Yea. I'm not buying BF4. BF3 was good put with origin, the server browser and no dedicated servers it just isn't worth it to me. Only game I'd buy from EA at this point is Battlefront 3 even though it will probably have all the stuff I just mentioned.

BF3 runs on dedicated servers.

Most of the time I had to refresh the BF3 server browser at least once to get ping times, it was more frustrating than beneficial, to me anyway.

BF3 runs on dedicated servers.

You can't set up your own dedicated server, you have to subscribe to one of the many expensive services out there.

I just don't see where the hate for battlelog comes from, its really time to get over it... Would I prefer an in-game browser? Yes. Is Battlelog a game ruining experience? Far from it. I mean, what can't it do that would be done in an in-game browser? Its just absurd to think that battlelog, of alll the things to complain about, is the thing about BF3/4 that would make you quit or not buy the game. How about the horrible netcode that has people still landing hits around corners for days? Now that is game breaking...

The battlelog browser is super easy to use, and it's far from the worst problem bf3 has. I swear some people complain, just to complain.

"Will BF4 have same horrible server browser as BF3? "

Why fix it if it aint bro....erm?

I actually like the browser, er, browser and it never really gave me any problems, plus it's nice to jump into a server queue (ueueueue) and not have to worry about alt-tabbed breaking the game and stuff like that.
