Will a CPU shim fix 2 crushed pads?

My Athlon XP 3200 has 2 somewhat crushed pad mounts on the bottom from a large heatsink. Will a CPU shim help the CPU block have perfect contact with the CPU? The shims I see in the pictures appear to be very thin and not as tall as the pads.

Thanks,

I think the shims are made so that they come up to the top of the cpu (because they're metal and can't be compressed) but the pads compress when they're put under the pressure of a heatsink. I'm not sure but I'd imagine yes

If you careful, you don't really need shims. If you do get one, make sure that it is indeed the right height. I've heard of people who had overheating computers because the shim wasn't machines well enough and so the core and heatsink wouldn't have very good contact.
