Hey Guys. Just wondering if the 9800XT will be able to handle BF2 with the current specs they release for it. Thanx.

Should run great, yup. Possibly maxed@1024x768 depending on how nice looking they are.. although I hear that you'll need a ton of ram for the game with max textures.

speaking of ram. how bout 2 gigs? I have 2x512 ocz pc3700 in my shuttle but am thinking mebbe 2X1gb sticks.

NOOOOOO dont saaay that! lol i guess ill go and get another 2x512 sticks

BF2 will need a GFX card with 256MB of ram or more on it ro run well. 1GB is perfectly fine, 2GB is better tho. They said the same thing when 1942 came out 'you need 4ghbz ram omfg' but yu didnt.

Hmmm... How about a 9800 pro 128MB @ 1680x1024? I suppose I could turn it down to 1280x720, but that's kinda blurry.

At lower details maybe :(

IMHO BF2 doesn't look all that graphically inense or anything so most GPUs from today should run it fairly well.

w/ my x1 projector i can only run 1024x768 so i got a bfg 6600gt for my shuttle. should be fine I think aa/af are kinda lost on a 6ft widescreen anyway.

lol @ the bf1942 comment needing 4gig of ram :) I think it will run great on 256bm, since it's just like cs 1.6 graphics hehe.

Ill be running it will 2 gig's of pc2100 ram and a ti 4200 vid card...

oddly enough the 4200 plays every game i have great at 800x600 (for newer games such as rome total war)

or half life 2 runs good at that also...

B2 doesnt look that amazing at all so... ti 4200 will stay in for another year or so :)

Sad news for you. = Geforce 4 Ti will not play BF2. Video cards have to support PS1.4 to play. :(

This is directed at everyone comparing the graphics in BF2 to other games as a measure of what requirements you will need.

You cant do that, a whole lot of the requirements relys upon how efficient the engine and game coding is. A prime example of this is Guild Wars and the Source engine. Both look extremely pretty, and yet both are coded very well. They will allow you to have a great looking game on even very low end systems. (Guild Wars is especially well coded in nearly every respect I have observed, the game is a dream to play thanks to not worry about long loads, poor lag etc...)

BF2 could be a well coded game, or it could be a horrible coded game like Star Wars Galaxies (memory leaks galore! Hello entry level programming mistakes not fixed in 2 years!)

You simply cant make comparisons between games unless they are based upon the same engine.

..... how dare they cut me out of the BF2 community like that!

thats annoying, my 120 dollars put to waste.

If it matters the card is overclocked :) hence why it plays the newer games fairly well.

guess ill upgrade to a 6800 or a x850..... :)
