Will a 3850 run NWN 2?

I just ordered a 3850 256mb card and am wondering how well this will run Neverwinter Nights 2?

I don't have any NWN2 numbers specifically, but the 3850 is a good card; it will run pretty much any game other than Crysis at very reasonable settings. The only thing to watch out for is the 256MB framebuffer; it will gimp you a bit at higher resolutions.

My 3850's ran The Witcher fine, (as do my 3870s) which uses a modified version of the same engine. I haven't tried NWN 2 in about a year.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is not a very demanding game, it's a pretty simple engine and any cheap card will run it fun.

"The Witcher" will run fine on a single HD 3850 256Mb. I've test it at up to 1680x with 16xAF. The trade quarter will be choppy though and it gives my GTX a work out.

"NWN 2" is not the same thing. "The Witcher" uses a heavily modified version of that engine. "The Witcher" modified version is vastly superior as far as performance goes.

Good luck with NWN 2 on an ATi card. If you run 1280x or 1440x with no filtering you may get away with it.

I think you'll be fine. The above chart is old, and the lowest res you see there is 1600X1200, with 2X aa and 16X asino.

I could not afford an 8800GT, I could only afford around $150 for a video card and it looked like the 3850 was the best bang for the buck I could get.

3850 should smoke NWN2 like a doobie. I'm running that game on a 7600 GT at 1680 x 1050 and it runs fine. You just have to either be running the expansion pack or tweak some .ini settings to get good performance, as the out-of-the-box configuration is shit.

even my 7800 was doing well in that game 3850 is at least twice as fast so don't worry 3850 will do great in nwn

Just think, what was the best card at the time NWN2 Came out. x1900 xtx or 7900 GTX (I don't think the 7950 GX2 was out yet).

I am pretty sure the HD3850 will be more than fine.
