Wikipedia's Founder Builds an Open-source Search Engine

[Rich Tate]

Wiki co-founder Jimmy Wales has announced he is now working on an open-source search engine. True to the form, anyone can help in the process by donating code.

I just got back in touch with Wales. He clarified, first, that the open search engine will not only take contributions for its source code, but that community members will also be actively involved in the editorial process governing search engine results.

wiki + search engine combined. Sound like a good idea, it will be interesting how it turns out.

This sounds like a good idea, especially it being open meaning that it is not limited to what X company feels is needed. Hope to see this as a good thing.
