Does anyone have any experience with integration of mediawiki and some type of version control? I am starting the process and would greatly appreciated if someone can point me to the right direction.

MediaWiki is set up and ready to go but the version control is flexiable. However, it will need to support multiple languages (vb, c, R, etc) on different platforms.

I can't figure out what it is you want to do. Are you trying to put the MediaWiki code itself into version control, or do you want to put the content of the Wiki site into version control?
 
Trac or Redmine will both do this, but not with MediaWiki.
