Wii Still On Top

I think the 360 still is the clear winner, they have been selling an incredible amount of consoles despite being out for so much longer than the other consoles.

Yes and no. It is certainly no PS2-level clear winner. During the last generation, PS2 had a year lead and still outsold Xbox and Gamecube 4:1 during the first year of the latter two's release. It was clear soon after Xbox and Gamecube's launch that there would be no catching up to the PS2 ever, unlike the current situation where Wii potentially could overtake 360 sales.

Wii is for the infants, old people, or retarded adult.
comparing the sales number is pointless.
It would be like comparing the total sales of diapers(for infant, old, retarded) to the sales of ties.

i am sure more diapers are sold than ties :D

If all that were true then you must've bought three Wii's.

Yes it is lol.. the gc was the cheapest last time, not to mention the DC launching at $199 and being around $99 or $150 at the launch of the ps2, however the ps2 demolished both.

actually you still don't understand the main part of this. BOTH are/were supply constrained there is no way to actually know how either one would do if there were an unlimited number of units since for the first 5~6 months both sold everything that could be made.

Plus last time Nintendo tried to directly compete with everything else. This time they side stepped the competition and aren't truly competing against any next gen systems. Which is why a lot of people including myself own a 360 and wii at this early stage.

It amuses and at the same time amazes me that you tell the other people to "learn to comprehend".

It amuses me that so many people agree with me and yet you still post your BS because you clearly hate Nintendo so much you will make an ass of yourself and go against overwhelming fact to attempt to bring it down...

Sound's like you are the infant.

If you think they are not in direct competition with each other you are fooling yourself. There are 3 current generation game consoles... and consumers know this and make their choice(s) from this group of 3... stop fooling yourself. How many of us here actually think the Wii is something other than a game console? How many of us, when asked about game consoles, don't have the Wii come to mind for even a second?

Marketing bullshit is not reality. Just because they say they are not competing doesn't mean it is so. Consumer perception is what is important, and consumers know that there are 3 current game consoles.

Give me a break.

Codex - just relax buddy. I already knew from day one that this site is pro-XBOX. Why bother fighting it? It's the same as recognizing PCPer's pro-conservative slant. You could waste time arguing, but remember that both sides have already chosen their respective positions. Not to bring out the infamous banned word on [H], but logic rarely enters changes someone's mind when they are talking about something they love.

Not understand why some people they are not directly competing. They weren't at the start but now they are lol. As soon as nintendo got all the crowds and growth it did now microsoft is trying to compete and sony with the six axis. I already talked in my last thread about microsoft trying to mimic nintendo already. They all want to compete with them now. Trying to access that casual market and then some. I've even heard on this forum before that nintendo copied the six axis which is totally wrong lol. Six axis came out right before launch i think, nintendo had a patient for along time already for years.

As it is right now the wii is dominating in sales numbers. Its raking in the motherload real fast and some people say xbox360 got a head start and are winning since they sold more but in reality nintendo is winning. At the rate its pumping out wii's, at the end of the year it would have out sold the xbox 360. More publishers and developers are developing on the wii now because of the big changes. Everyone thought the wii was going to bomb it but they were completely underestimating its capabilities and how it would affect man kind ;). I like the xbox to but you got to admit. The wii is fun and its basically the number console in ranking money and selling so far. Even if the 360 got a head start its still not selling as much as they would have wanted. Now the wii catching up at a huge pace. The ps3 is still being outsold by the gameboy advance. Its basically in sales numbers, the next gamecube. It won't die or go stale, it will just go on the back burner for now until next gen it seems like. Thats basically how it is right now :).

I still say they aren't directly competing yet. Microsoft would like to get casual gamers but they don't really have any games or means to.
Also, everyone I know that has a Wii is either a hardcore gamer or never owned another console in their life. I know myself, and 7 of my friends are either nintendo fanboys or own at least a 360 already plus a Wii and 2 of them own a PS3 as well. Also, out girlfriends and wives will play wii sports with us but won't really touch the others except for a few live arcade games.
On top of that I know several that bought a wii and never have owned anything else and have no interest in anything else either. My parents, my uncle, and two of my friends parents own them.
Thus from my own experience I know 12 people that own a wii, including myself, and none of them debated between a wii and something else. It was either the only thing they would ever possibly get, mainly for wii sports, or they already owned or planned to own at least one hardcore console like me. I actually bought the wii first at launch while waiting to get the 360 until just a few weeks ago but had planned to get it from day 1 eventually.
