Wii Situation

How many do you think are getting one to resell, not knowing they're *supposed* to be abundant? :p

Maybe I should go to the midnight one...

I entered the Wal-Mart line at 1:00 p.m and was number 29 of 33. Some guy near the front of the line numbered everybody's hands to prevent any nonsense and then around 10:00 the manager handed out papers with everybody's numbers and told us to come back at Midnight. So I will be going back in about an hour to pick up my Wii.

Just to fuel the excitement...I was at target an figured I might as well buy it:

Too bad it looks like it will be hard to get a wii tomorrow without spending a little bit of time in line. There were a couple of campers at this target. I called a 24-hour walmart in the area and they said their line was like 50+. I'd bet target lines will be the same way by 4 or 5 in the morning.

Anyways its a nice box to look at for a week or so :).

the walmart by me is getting 210 units. in my city alone, they are getting a total of around 1000 units, so i'm not too worried about walking into a store tomorrow and buying one. Plus i work at circuit city, and due to the annual "black friday" meetings, i'll be in there at 8 and am hoping to just walk out of work with a brand new toy :)

yep, everywhere has lines, theres even people outside of radioshack (when the hell did radioshack start selling game consoles?). Only place I didnt see people at was KB toys and gamecrazy, but I dunno if they are even gettng the things or already did preorders or what.

I'm gonna camp online and see if I can snag one at midnight, if not I'll probably just say fuck it. I really want a wii, but not bad enough to stand in the cold of hours.

This is in the Richmond, VA area if anyone is wondering.

I got a call from Game Crazy a few hours ago telling me that my Wii, 2 games and classic controller are all sitting there waiting for me to pick 'em up. I can get them at 11:45pm tonight. I didn't have to stand in line to preorder or anything. I just went to the store after work on preorder day and put down my money. I guess I really lucked out!

Well if your going by ps3seeker numbers then my city is supposedly getting about 1000+ as well (50+ per 20+ stores). Most are unconfirmed numbers though.

Talking to the guy in the walmart electronics department telling me there were 50+ people in line: I mentioned the "53" they were supposed to get he said he was talking to his manager and they only recieved "like 28."

Maybe they are on the late frieght tonight. I still think it will be harder to get then some people think. Oh well, good luck folks.

Hah. Target is going to get a nice $10,000 fine from selling you that game. Its one of the few street dated Wii games.

Wow...just wow, i never thought snagging one was gonna be that big of a deal.

Hey toe you want to go wii hunting tomorrow? I am headed by target right now to see for myself...

Meet early @ target
The I have some other places we could prolly snag one...

I'm gonna pm u my cell, give me a call tonight

My closest walmart said they have 20 and had fielded about "10 million" calls so there's high interest, but no lines as of 7pm. I didn't bother looking I think someones getting me on for xmas

I called another walmart nearby and the guy said "We can't say how many we're getting" and they weren't doing a midnight sale (the 1st wally i mentioned was).

wow, just got back from wal mart.
SOLD OUT.

They had 19 units, all accounted for with vouchers they handed out to people that were in line outside.

best buy is has 24 units (big sign on the door.) people with tents already there.
circuit city only has 12, and it looks like theres more than 12 people camping in front of that store.

the only hope left is target. not a single soul anywhere. i might try going up there at 7am.

this is amazing, totally unexpected. but then again, it seems everywhere is not getting the amount of units everyone expected.

no one in my area is camping all stores are clear no tents and no people. so if u want one pay me il get u one :p

Anyone know if Sears will have any? I was number 22 in line for 20 units a few hours ago, but gave up.

Maybe I will hit my Sears tommorow.

I work at CC every store gets 50 units.

not here. (Lake Worth, TX)
big sign on the door with the number 12 written in big black marker. (also confirmed by the people camping in front of the store.)

Interesting. I haven't seen any TV coverage of Wii campers, so I assumed that there wasn't much going on at all.

In any case, I may be able to snag one at some point along my daily Sunday journey between L.A. and Malibu. I suppose I'll make a handy little map and hit all the nearby Wiiseeker hits on my way back downtown.

Wii and Borat is the plan for me tomorrow. If I can manage two for two, I'll be a pretty happy camper.

Yeah, from what I understand, Target is the place to go to get a Wii. I hear their numbers are higher than almost every other store...

I went to Walmart and was about 5 back when they ran out. They only had 28 and were backordered 30. I just strolled in at like 11:50, so it wasn't that bad.

I snagged Zelda and Madden 07 while I was there though.

well that was fun....
time for some sleep, i am waking up at 7am and going to target.
good luck guys

local walmart here only had 20, and 31 people with interest... I was lucky #13, and my wife was #15... We waited about 6.5 hrs for it.. was boring as hell.

It was funny how people strolled in at 11:30 and were suprised they couldn't get a Wii...
So, I do think they will be slightly more scarce than people originally thought.

The spoils:

(And for those who may wonder, I will not be selling the 2nd system, it will be a rather expensive xmas gift for my wife's family. /sigh)

Holy crap I didn't expect people to actually camp out for Wii's. I passed by both Target and Best Buy before seeing Casino Royale and the lines were PACKED, and I mean more so than the PS3 lines. At LEAST 30-50 people per line.

Yeah I was going to go see Casino Royale, but decided to stop by Walmart first on my way out of town, and after realizing at around 5:30pm there were already 12 people waiting (with the earliest person being from 9am) I decided to sit there instead :(

So many people came in around 11:30 though expecting to just pick one up, it was kind of comical, especially the 400lb woman who started crying cause she wouldn't get one...

i don't think it was that the lines were packed, i think it has more to do with the fact that you can actually GET a Wii, as opposed to the ps3 which only saw about 4-10 units per average store.

Not bad. It looks like I may end up hitting eight or nine stores tomorrow, though. Drag.

I would of watied for one,

But I was at the OHIO STATE Michigan game.

I'll juts try tomorrow

yea, I'm afraid I was one of those that strolled in at 11:30PM, although I didn't really expect to get one, anyways I was just mostly checking out the lines for fun, about 30 people where there, I think I'll just buy one later this year or early next year.

This whole video game craze is getting ridiculous, didn't consoles used to get released without people camping out? Like in the SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1, Dreamcast days? Even PS2, I don't remember any camping though I did preorder. But I didn't preorder on the first day, and I didn't even have to wait in line to preorder. Is video game popularity growing exponentially or what?

spent 4 horus at walmart...

i was #30.. there were only 20 wii's

i did alittle recon at best buy and target and circuit city as well as Toys r us.. those places are PACKED.. no way in hell i'm getting a wii tomorrow... :(

i drove by sears.. there was no one camped out... i'm thinking of hitting them up when the mall opens... though i'm not sure if thye even have an electronics department...

Wal-marts were suppose to get 53, but they all got 20, way more people than Wii's

Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target all had long lines and only Target is opening before 10am tommorrow. Looks like the Wii has way more demand than expected, as well as there was a lot less shipped than expected

How much will these go for you guys think on ebay? I might try to pick one up to make a quick buck, a local store will have 24 of them, with coupons early and then couple hours later open to sell. If I can't make a lil extra, Ill return it..

The look to be hitting the 500 dollar mark right now normally, but remember this is probablly going to be the peak. That being said, I think it has been shown, getting one of these is much much harder than originally anticipated

Only 11 at Wal-mart SC on Colfax, going to try Circuit City and then Target tomorrow.

I got mine.

Had to get there at 2pm. I got the 16th console out of 20.

Im loving it :D

waiting was a hell of a lot of fun. Buddy of mine from my EE classes was there, and all the people were pretty cool. We all just hung out, watched movies, did WIFI DS, and talked for hours, some people had been there since 4pm Friday. I had a great time.

Just counted and 16 people already inline before the 4am release...Im heading back there with my sister to capitalize on two of em..I love credit cards :)

Hmm, I'm finally going back to the states tomorrow and I thought I'd be able to walk into a store and grab a Wii and some games. Is this not going to be the case anymore? :(

You might be right Phob, way i see it, even if i can't snag one tomorow i'll probably be able to grab one by the end of the week.
