It has been a few weeks since we were first introduced to the name "Nintendo: Wii". It's pretty clear that the majority of the forum goer's here at the [H] said "boo" to the name. I was one of them, and thought I would never get used to the name let alone grow to.... waiiit for it.. waiit for ittt..... like the name Wii.

Take the survey :)

Just a side note to the admins...

Stevieip was like 45% of the reason why I came to theese forums, so I was just curious... is he banned forever... or just a little bit? If you could tell me by message or by reply here that would be great. thx

Well, the first time I saw the name, I went "wtf?!". But I started liking the name very quickly, and now I cringe everytime someone says "Revolution". :p

Yeah, at first I had the same reaction as everyone else. I was wondering what the heck Nintendo was thinking. Since then, the name has grown on me and now I have no problem with it. In fact, I'm starting to like it more and more every day. It's quite fun to bring up a conversation about the Wii when non-gamers are around, as they will usually have a very confused look on their face after hearing the word "Wii". :p

The Wii name is bad PR for the Nintendo system. But Sony and Microsoft haven't exactly been very graceful with their PR lately anyway, so I'm going to judge the Wii in the same way that I judge the PS3 and X360 -- by the games that are lined up for the system.

Hearing "Wii" still makes me cringe, but if the console shows that it's got the goods, I'll fork over the dough. Choice #2 -- I dislike the name, but it'll (have to) do.

I'm not a fan of the name, but I really don't care what it's called. All that I care about is that it offers a good gameplay experience. The name never had any impact on my buying decision.

By now I've had plenty of conversations using the new name, and I dont have a problem with it. I've introduced my friends to it as Wii, and none of them reacted with "omg wii sounds like peepee lol penis!" ;D

I kinda like the name now, although I'm kinda wierd and like confusing untechnical people.

"I just wanna play with my Wii in peace for thanksgiving"

I think it's the most moronic thing since Al Gore. That said, the system is shaping up nicely.

Not totally bothered by the name, (still think it's a bit daft, but what can you do about it) As long as the games shape up nicely that's what's important.

I've always thought it was a bit of a stretch to somehow relate "Wii" as a reference to my dick. The closest I can come up with was back when I was 8 years old and I used to the term "wee wee".

Or maybe because it sounds a little bit like taking a "whiz". But that's a far stretch at best.

The name is good. Always has been. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I don't like it yet, but I've given up really caring. X-box 360 sounds like a move in Tony Hawk and has way too many ties to late 90s 'Xtreme Culture', and Playstation 3 is well, not very original. Where have all the cool named systems gone? Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Jaguar, etc. Revolution just had a cooler ring to it.

I guess I understand Nintendo doing it because of this whole 'we want people to come together to play' marketing campaign, but I'm not really buying into that either, so, whatever.

Where is the

"Just because Nintendo can't spell "We" is no reason why the rest of us can forget how to spell simple words such as 'survey' " option?

Seriously though, I dont give much credit to a name and frankly I am going to enjoy saying "Hey lets go play the WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" (Wii in an annoying high pitched voice) to my roommates since they are both nintendo fans.

YOU ARE SOOOOO COOL!
-----------------------------------------------

I do like the name Wii better than the X-box 360.

It's an apallingly bad name. I hate it. But in the end, the name means nothing. It's all about the games. They can call it "Fat drunken skunk" for all I care, as long as the games are good.

My hatred has nothing too do with any kind of reference.
I just don't like it.

I'm still getting one though.

I'm not sure if a mod messaged you or not, so I'll tell you. Steviep is permabanned. Here's a quote from Rich(Hope you don't mind):

"He has been given a permban.

Frankly, we were all tired of babysitting him and his flamebait remarks. He repeatedly insulted myself and Steve and accused us of being biased against Nintendo. He has caused nothing but trouble lately and the amount of time he was taking up to moderate his discussions completely outweighed his merit as a useful contribution to this forum."

As for the topic, I'm still not too fond of it, but I've accepted it.

Wha... the guy would defend Nintendo to his grave, but his arguments were more level headed and composed than most the people he would argue against. I rarely saw him resort to personal attacks like most people on forums do very quickly.

It's a crap name, but I'll deal with it. Revo was 10 times better, why couldn't they just stick with that?! Retards.
Still, I don't buy based on names, so it's not a great deal. Choice #2.

QFT.

I do wish it was named the revolution though.

I like the name Revolution a lot better, but Nintendo wants to market it like an ipod. I still haven't warmed completely up to "Wii" cuz it sounds strange to me as a gaming machine. It's OK I guess... better than "DS" As for steviep, I've been lurking since xmas, and don't remember mr tate ever being insulted. Steve however...
