You talk about that as if the average Joe Sixpack employee who answers the phone at Walmart or Bestbuy gives a flying fuck about prudent store and business policy.
Im actually one of those "Joe Sixpack Employees" that answer the phones at best buy. And, the only reason why I care about the business policy is because if i dont follow it im out of there. So, yeah, most of us do care about the policies or our ASS gets handed to us.

Ive been through it was 360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite.. it sucks but we do what we have to..

and, actually, more than half the time we say we dont know its coming it we REALLY dont know when its coming in. Once and a while we do.. but not as much as you may think

Anyone have any more confirmation for Target or Best Buy regarding a Sunday release?

I'm gonna visit them today, I'll report what I find.

I called my target.. they said "We don't think we're going to get any before Christmas"

not so sure if i should believe them.. i've heard too many stories of people being told that stores are out of stock.. yet they walk in one hour later to find a wii for sale..

toysrus is pretty much confirmed, my store got 63 yesterday but we're still telling customers "check back tommarow, no gaurantees". I'm willing to bet at least 75% of the stores will get wii's.

ALright. i'm hitting up Toys r us then.. i got the feeling Target is doing the same..

I work at a local best buy... I don't think we will have any tomorrow...

but my sup is letting me go to the toys r us to get mine on the clock ;)

Toys R Us will only sell the systems as a bundle with 3 games. be prepared for that.

Thanks to VoodooChi|d's info I got a Wii this morning [Sunday] at TRU.
No bundle, $250 staight up.
They open at 9am, I got there at 8:30 and there were about 15 people in line.
Five minutes later there were 100 people.
The manager came out at 8:45 and handed out vouchers and checking id's to make sure only one to a household. Very well done- I told him so too.
He later told me they had 46 units.
Grabbed ZeldaTP, a bunch of other games and download points etc.
No extra remotes or chucks.

Connected to my Linksys wireless, updated and been playing nonstop, well when I can pry the remote from my son and his gf. :)

Ps, went by CC on the way to TRU and there must have been 200 people in line and they didn't open till 11am.
Wonder how they made out.

hopefully there's more wii action next week.. this time i will be able to show up a lot earlier.. maybe even campout.. since i won't have any immediate obligations like this week (I have two projects due, and a final to do this week)

I went to my local Target @ 5:30 this morning thinking that there'd be a sworm of people already waiting in line, but I got lucky and there were only three people ahead of me. therefore, I was one of the seven people who were able to score a Wii.

so now I have two Wii consoles in my computer room. one that I ordered from Wally World.com that has a broken sensor bar and another console from Target that works perfectly.

Nintendo is sending me a replacement sensor bar this week so I'll be giving my second Wii console to my nephew who's been dying to get a Wii as well. he's gonna flip out come Christmas day. :)

I think at the next wii campout i'm gonna get piss drunk and piss all over peoples tents and shit.. just to be a dick... LOL!!!

If anyone did that, the police would be stopping by.

FYI on a related note, my WM had the Wavebirds down to $20 (same price as wired GC controllers). YMMV.

Picked up my wii at the Nintendo World Store, didn't get there overly early, showed up 5 minutes after they opened, picked up my ticket, and waited till 9:30ish to get in the door. From what I was told they're getting in new shipments daily.

For, what, all of three minutes? (I live near that one, but I was at work--and allowing for the line factor, just...no.)

I hope you guys get yours soon. I love mine so much. I love the fact that all my gamecube accesories and games have 100% compatibility with the Wii, something neither of the other two can offer.

I love my 360 too but that's a different kind of console in my book; and I'm going to buy a PS3 in the future when Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XIII make their debuts and I get my hands on a better TV for myself.

I think some EB games in Canada might be getting some in tomorrow, according to my friend.

So.... anyone have rumors on the next gamestop/eb shipment? :p (US that is)

You're not going to have much luck at GameStop/EB seriously. They have lots of pre-orders to fill still.

It's places like WalMart, BestBuy, Toys R Us, and Target that get the most and have like, no obbligation to hold them for others (well TRU does but they still get a lot so usually they've had extras).

The EB Games near my house have no preorders to fulfill. they put them out on the shelf when they get them.

Anyway, I got my wii at TRU this morning (by waiting in line since midnight). They were selling it in a bundle with Marvel Ultimate Alliance. But they surprisingly let me substitute Zelda for that. All I can say is it was definitely worth the wait. Now I just need to find some extra wiimotes.

I have to admit, i'm a little pissed. I've tried on 3 separate occasions, and i'm still Wii-less. I went to the Nintendo World Store on Friday. I was there 10 minutes before they opened, and there must have been 300 people on line. They only get about 100 units each day, so I didn't even bother waiting on line.

Today I went to TRU. Got there 30 minutes before they opened. There were probably 30 people on line. The manager or someone eventually comes out. Mentions that there are 175 units in, and that they are ALL GONE. Apparently people started lining up 10pm the PREVIOUS DAY and all the tickets went to them. WTF?! I mean isn't it standard practice that you wait on line, and maybe 10-20 minutes before the store opens they hand out tickets to the people waiting on line. You don't hand them out the previous day - all it does is screw over all the people who got up early to wait in line, while those with tickets are in their beds sleeping late.

i was able to pick up my wii today. thanks for the heads up at circuit city, camped out since 12pm and made some new friends. the manager started handing vouchers and i got number 14 out of 48. store didn't open till 10am and security were letting people in groups of 10 or so at a time. the target across the street had some, but wasn't sure when they actually started handing them out.

It's only a "standard" in the US because a lot of US retailers are idiots.

There is no benefit from having people stand in line for days at a time.

1. It bothers normal customers.
2. It puts people in danger of becoming sick.
3. It puts people in danger of getting robbed.
4. It disturbs the flow of customer traffic into your store.
5. Liability concerns.

Handing out vouchers alleviates every one of these problems. Most vouchers specify that you must be at the store within a couple hours of opening or your "reserve" system will be sold to someone else.

Got a Wii at CC thanks to the tips. Now, NUNCHUCKS! I can't find them anywhere and I've been looking since launch. Any tips there, do those shipments come separate from system shipments? I can't find one.

10 and 30 minutes early isn't enough when there's this much demand. with a few lucky exceptions, everyone who's getting a wii right now is sitting in the cold for hours for the priveledge. I did!

hmm, people around here were able to just walk right in on launch day, for the first couple store hours

Guess I got lucky then. I decided to try Target since they opened first. Got there about 7:25 and there were about 40-50 people in line. I wasn't expecting that, but I stood in line anyway. About 15 minutes to opening they passed out vouchers and i got 37 of 39. So, it took about 35 minutes of waiting in the cold but I got it and my Christmas shopping is done! (well, except for a spare nunchuck and a couple games. Got a spare wiimote yesterday on Amazon for $35, $6 shipping).

as some of you know..

today i showed up 3 hours early.. i was two spots shy of a wii..

next week.. upon confirming shipments.. i will be showing up 6 hours before opening...

ugh if i didnt work so early sunday mornings i would be online everywhere
dammit!
