Hey guys,

if i were to add some kina of built it wifi for a gaming pc, how would i do it?

ive seen wifi cards online but no clue which is good to buy or if there is anything in particular i have to look how for. example: is one better than the other? will one be faster then the other? do they all work the same and none of that matter.

any suggestions? thanks in advance

Only Wifi cards that are worth anything is the ones that come in newer laptops.

Intel even sells one with a PCI-e adapter on Newegg.

Or, if you want to cheap out and get something just as good, you can order a PCI-e adapter and card from China.

The adapter is fine, but I always recommend the Intel 6200/6300. It's an amazing, stable, fast wifi card.

The 6200/6300 are really good cards as well.

We get them in all our new laptops.

I have the Atheros card I linked to in my router and it works great as well.

its for a desktop pc

this is overkill, but you want something similiar to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704133

you need to find out what kind of pci slots you have available on your motherboard, then buy a desktop wifi adapter that will connect to that specific pci slot.

you also need the wifi adapter to be compatible with your wifi network

Why get a card that cant be upgraded? If you get a PCI-e to mini PCI-e adapter, you can swap out the card itself for quite a bit cheaper than purchasing a whole new PCI-e card.

And I bet that TP-LINK card uses an Atheros chipset.. probably the same exact as the card I already linked to.

From my research, Atheros and Intel are the only ones worth getting. Everything else has crappy driver support.

Also about how far is the Wifi router and how many walls between them? I've used little cheap plug in USB ones with success if the Wifi router is only 20 feet or so away.

Well the router and my pc are in the same room just across from each other. I can either buy a long ethernet cable and run it around the sides of the wall till it gets to the pc or i was wonder how i can could get a wireless card.

Just buy a USB wireless adapter. You're in the same room and don't really need anything else.
