I'm out of touch on router technology and not much of a network person so I am looking for some advice. I'm getting ready to move from AT&T uverse to Charter and I don't want to rent a router from them. I would rather have my own.

I have a wired house with network drops in each room that dumps in the basement where the router will sit. But I have 3 kids and we all have phones, tablets, and whatever else fighting for bandwidth so everyone can watch Netflix, YouTube, and play games.

With the router sitting in the basement and having a two story house and considering my bandwidth needs what router would you recommend? Prices are all over the place and I'm not sure where to start. Everything in the house is running Windows or Android. All gaming consoles are using network drops and stay off the wireless. If you have any questions to help make a decision please ask and thank you for your advice. :D
 
Get a half-decent router but don`t worry too much about the wireless and mount an access point on ceiling of the ground floor, assuming your house is like this:

1st floor
Gnd Floor
Basement

A Unifi AP-Pro would fit your needs and likely cover all of your wireless needs too.
