Ok some very wierd stuff has been happening with the computer i am building. First the computer couldnt detect the new hdd, and was coming up with a blue screen when windows try starting the setup. I was told that it could be the ram so i switched it out from the computer that works and still the stop error screen. So i replaced cables and now it says boot disk error. please enter system disk. Could this be a mobo problem?

try deleting the partitions on the HD (if there are any) and then formatting the drive... then create a new partition.

Have you checked whether the disk is set to master? And if you are running a CD-ROM on the same cable, it is set to slave?
Also check BIOS to see if there are any boot settings that may be affecting it.
Maybe a bit more info may help, i am taking a stab in the dark here.

already have tried the cable and hdd on old computer it works. Another funny thing is that the hdd in the old computer was showing up on the new one so i was just going to swap the 2 out and when i did it didnt work. Ive replaced the ide cable like i dunno how many times....lost count still same shit.

What other info you looking for? i am not sure what else to tell you to help me with the answer.

So wait, will it detect ANY HDD? I'm kind of confused about when you swapped the other drive in it. Did it see it once and not work after that?

Ya thats about exactly what happend. I am thinking it is ethier a mobo problem or power supply

Maybe your cables are not plugged in correctly, or might want to check HD pins and see if they are bent.

what mobo, what hd, what conifg ............then we may associate with known issues on specific designs. Right now we are shooting in the dark.
