ok i have a core2 6300 in a gigabyte ds3 and i cant seem to find an accurate reading on my processor temps
easy tune is giving me 34 idle, coretemp is giving me 72 idle(!!!), and speedfan says 35

should i just assume that coretemp is way off, or should i be worried?

no overclocking and i have the stock hsf on

Put your finger on the heatsink base.
If you cant feel a temp difference or only a little one, its likely the CPU is around 32C.
If it feels cold, its running cooler and if it feels really warm/hot, it could well be running at 72C !

now easytune and speedfan are telling me idle around 56-58C
any clues?
that sounds dangerously hot now

edit: now its down to 52, still obviously too hot.

i have no clue whats going on

should i just try getting some new thermal paste and reseating the heatsink?

I mentioned how to verify the temps in my last post.
We have no idea here if your readings are real or not, that would help.
