I have a 76gb Raptor with 16mb cache installed on an Asus P5W motherboard. The drive is partitioned into 2 parts one for XP one for Vista. The storage drive is a Seagate 7200.10 Now the problem is that when I load a program and attempt drag my mouse pointer on the desktop (as when i want to select multiple icons). The target box will freeze. There is no noticeable difference in system performance. At first I thought it was a software issue however I closed off a number of hard drive intensive applications and it ran fine (namely Asus WiFi-AP Solo). Before I closed it the target box will freeze all the time. With it off it only happens when I open up an application. The issue is still there however. It seems this happens when the hard drive is being utilized.

Any thoughts?

Took a screeny of the problem. This happens when the hard drive is being utilized. The system seem to have very quick freezes. Wierd.

That happened to me once, didn't have either of those drives, or that motherboard - reinstalled windows and it was fine again. So if that's an option for you, you may want to consider it.

My guess as to why it happens is that there is a driver issue of some sort, but I didn't really pay attention to it much.

I was thinking the same however I would rather not reinstall if I had a choice. Im installing a few fans into my computer and realigning my Big Typhoon (I had to align fans parellel to the exhaust fan due to cable length before lol). I guess I might as well reinstall. Just a really wierd problem.

To be honest, I'd think a problem like that would be video related before it being hard drive related, but I've only seen that problem once or twice, and even then it was very short-lived.

P.S. Big fan of FF...nice wallpaper. :)
