... i boot, and i have 2x512 sticks of PC3200 DDR400 and when i boot it says
"DDR 266MHZ DUal Channel, Linear mode" but shouldnt it be DDR 400MHZ instead of 266MHZ?

i have no idea why or if it should say 400 or not. any responces would be much appreciated

heres everything from CPU-Z, as it is currently... maby i needa change something but i dont know just what.

see that could be the problem, i dunno where that is in bois, i dont see it in any of the menus

it'll probably be labled "memory frequency" or something similar. i haven't worked with a newer asus board, so i dunno where to go looking for it. maybe in the advanced chipset properties, if such a thing still exists

I haven't been in my p4p's BIOS in a while, but you'll have a choice between Auto/400/333/266 or something like that, put 400.

P4P screws up and detects the wrong speed on boot sometimes. Just power it down and let it try again.

as was def right, i had it on its "Overclock 10%" in the bios, i changed it to manual, and i see all these new options, one of wich is the dram frequency, changed to 400, and presto all set, heres a pic to show yall.

like always, the people here know it all ;) thanks again,

only 1 more question, see where it says "CPU External Freqency" set bettween 200-400, its @ 200 now, what happens if i up it? will it raise my CPU core MHZ by that much? so its @ 2.4ghz now, if i do it @ 300 will it go to 2.5ghz or....?

Pretty sure that's the FSB clock setting. So it'll raise the CPU by (increase x multiplier). The multi should be 12 if you're stocking at 2.4GHz on a 200MHz FSB. So 250 would give you 3GHz.

BTW, "weird".
