Wierd format issue

I have a 40 gig HD partitioned 20/20.

The D: data partition will not format NTFS completly. I formatted it NTFS and the data is all gone but it didn't complete and windows says "unable to complete format"
I tried both quick and full format, same message.

So now I try formating as FAT32 and it works.

:confused:

gonna try formatting with winxp cd now
