In CPU-z my CPU is switching between a 6x and 8x multiplyer? My ram is clocking at
PC2-6400 (400Mhz) when it is PC2-8500 (1066 MHz) ?? Whats happening :(

I had nTune :( crappppp

OCZ PC2-8500
QuadCore qx6700
eVGA 680i

Well, sounds like you have Speed Step / C1E enabled. This causes the processor to reduce the multiplier & voltage to prolong life and what-not.

As far as ram... did you manually set the timings or rely on SPD to set them?

These can be changed in your bios.

Can u explain how?

i know for sure in my BIO that SLI Memory thing is disabled and if I enable it wants me to set a CPUOC%... as for the proc where do i disable it all?? this is all stock.

Not too familiar with the board you have. I know with the board I have, Speed Step or "EIST" is under the Power section. Just look around your bios for EIST / Speed Step and C1E. If you see them enabled, disable them.

so i found them and disabled them and now Im looking at my CPU-z seems to be stable at x8 but the Core Speed is only 2133.5 MHz should it run at 2.6? what is up? Bus speed is 266.7MHZ Rated FSB is 1066.6 MHz, I have stock cooling in a CM Stacker 830, with 2 120s in the door and 1 in the front and one in the back... my CPU is idle at seems around 46? I wanna start OCin the CPU what can I push it too? and how should I do it... Im totally new to Overclocking. I know you have to raise the Multiplyer but how and what increments? also should I enable that SLi Memory thing?
