Last night I installed a bunch of logitech software to work with my keyboard and gamepad. when I went to restart my computer everything went fine mid about 2/3 of the way through the tune that XP plays on startup it cuts out and restarts again. I let it go through everything again but this time it worked fine. When I read what it said caused the problem it said something about RAM I think (shouldve read the whole thing) but it was something about random access had been corrupted.

However, a little while ago when I got my 2nd stick of ram everything was working fine I ran memtest (not memtest86, I had no floppys) and it ran for about 8 hours without finding anything. So what could've caused this problem.

bad shut down, spy ware, etc.... check and make sure everything, ALL hardware is running properly

I used seatools to scan the HDD, memtest ran for 8 hours with no failures. What else is there to test?

BTW that seems to be an isolated incodent, I just booted now fine again.

I could scan for spyware again.

Do a run --> cmd --> at dos prompt type in

chkdsk c: /f

This will see if you have bad clusters, then remove everything related to logitech using MSCONFIG.

Logitec software blows, its loaded with thier own custom spyware.

I love thier mice, I dont use thier software

thie own custom spyware? why would they do that, you already regester and everything with them...

Either way I like the new versions of the software, fixed everything that was f'ed up in the boxed versions. Also I needed to install the software to use my gamepad.

okay, I ran spybot... it found nothing. Then I tried running ad-aware, and I got 8 things, one regestry key and 7 cookies. So I don't know if that got what you guys were talking about or not, either way I'm glad to have gotten whatever it was off my system, since before I had also only run spybot.
