Apple users everywhere rejoice! Jump around! Do handsprings and cartwheels (go ahead, we’ll wait)! Today, Steve Jobs announced the iPod phone. Notice, I said iPod phone and not iPhone. The iPhone was announced last week by Cisco.

Major faux pas! Lets see sometime last year;

Steve J: Hi Cisco, we want to use your trademark for something we are coming out with, a little product that will be phone and iPod. What do you say?

Cisco: Sure, what kind of terms were you looking for.

Steve J: How about $5/unit?

Cisco: Seems a bit low, not expecting to do much volume?

Steve J: Nahh its just something we are toying with.

Cisco: Ok will send the docs over for you to sign.

Cisco Manager two: No I didnt and btw we never got those signed papers back before they introduced that thing. I gues the price for them to use that trademark went up by a factor of 10.

ITunes gave the Ipod the edge over other mp3 players which were cheaper and had better features.

You're underestimating how the iPods DESIGN was it's key feature. It had the most efficient, unobtrusive controlls (the clickwheel), the simplest interface. It also looked 10x sexier than anything else on the market. Sure, it had no radio, etc... but it was more attractive, and hence desirable.

The iPhone's interface is clearly developed with the user in mind, unlike all those other phones, where you're clicking through menu's to get anywhere. It will be simple and efficient to use, and that is a BIG feature.

I agree about it's good looks. IMO, that was the KEY. If it was the interface, I still think the Rio Karma was better. It certainly was at playing music -- if it can't play back consecutive files from a Pink Floyd album, a Dance Mix or live album gaplessly, it's broken.

People ignored that, it's then poor battery life, high price, and inferior audio quality, because it looked good and yes it had one of the 2 best dap interfaces (and still does).
