Widescreen CRT's?

Does anyone out there make widescreen CRT's? Not crazy about LCD's much, but I would like widescreen without losing most of my monitor space to black bars. Especially on CS:S, the exrta view is a lifesaver. Anyone?

Sony and Sun are the only companies that offer them anymore I think, even then there is a great change you'll have to buy one used or refurb. Panasonic has a 32" widescreen HDTV CRT television but I wasn't very impressed by the image quality.

ya I believe Sony discontinued *all* their CRTs awhile back. I was lucky enough to get a couple new GDM-FW900s before that happened.

OMFG I found that sony one, at nearly 2000 dollars!!! I'm guessing I'm not going to find one in the near 300ish range am I?

2000 is a huge ripoff for that monitor, you should be able to get it for 600-900. 300 for a 23" widescreen just isn't going to happen. Maybe $450 for an older heavily used one on ebay. What don't you like about LCDs btw?

A few reasons, native resolution limitations, price, off angle viewing. But mainly price x iq. For what I paid for my 19" CRT (997DF) I could get a so-so 17" LCD. A decent widescreen LCD seems to go for around the same price as one of those Sony CRT's on refurb. I was hoping they'd be priced significantly lower, but I guess not. Oh well, thanks guys!
