are u refering to a DFI mobo that has "Ultra" in its name, or is it "UT," which u've come to the conclusion that UT stands for Ultra? just want to make sure ur comparing apples with apples ;)

I would buy the Asus board, simply because of manufacurer loyalties. They have been good to me the last 5 boards, so they will continue to get my business.

since they both run off the same chipset, performance isn't really going to change betwen mobos when running sli 7800gtx (although DFI does seem to come out slightly ahead...but u may not notice). they both have high reps, so it's pretty much a personal choice. if u leave it stock, then just compare their extra features and decide from there...however, if ur going to overclock, then that's were these boards split. with out a doubt, DFI is the best oc'ing mobo u can get. but u said "light oc'ing," so u may end with the same result in either mobo. in my opinion (and what i currently own), i'd go with DFI, because then ur not limiting ur possibilities :D ....unless u like the features of the asus moreso.

I heart ppl got problems with DFI mobos
Is it only 5V problem?
How is fun on that Asus-cpl ppl saying its noisy?

there were a couple of bios problems with the DFI mobos in the beginning, but those have been fixed. so yeah, other then a few isolated incidents (of which u can find on any mobo), there’s the 5v vDIMM jumper problem. but that's only if ur doing some serious oc'ing and ur memory can handle that much. the Asus mobo doesn't even have this feature or capability, so it's not like u'll be missing anything. regardless of it not working properly, there’s other ways of oc'ing the system, which still puts the DFI mobo ahead of Asus

funny thing i have the asus a8n-sli dlx and the DFI lan party ultra d (modded to sli)

either will do what you require without much fuss.

the DFI has considerable overclocking headroom a bit more to quite a bit more than the asus depending on the setup . the DFI ccan have just too much of everything if you get carried away with overclocking.

there are a few little things about the DFI that makes it a bit more of a challange to set up . and the pci-express slots are closer togeather than the asus.

lastly the northbridge heatsink and fan are sortof under the videocard--LOL
the asus is super stable easy to set up , a bit for forgiving on the ram and a pretty darn good overclocker that has sort of a safty margin on the voltages--lol

thre each a winner--it just depends on what you want.

I just got the asus sli board yesterday, to replace my 2 week old neo-2 platinum (wife wouldnt get off my computer) so i got a 2nd 3000+venice and going sli.
Anyways, the asus is very simple to set-up, and oc. I havent got the 2nd 6600gt yet for sli, or the 20 to 24pin atx adapter, but so far the board runs great w/only the 20 pin plug.
If you're looking for something simple and reliable go for the asus, but if you're into mad oc and have a power supply w/24 pin plug then go for the dfi. I considered the dfi seriously, but decided that the money to replace my 2 month old PS would pay for another vid card instead.
BTW....3000+ venice at 2670mhz 24hr prime stable and climbing :D
