• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Well I know they dont take Yahoo or Hotmail, so I made a Gmail account, and it still denied it. Any reasons why?

Use the search feature or read the rules.

Rule #6 specifically.

(6) No Web based EMAIL ACCOUNTS (i.e Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc) allowed for forum registration. You must have a valid e-mail account where you can be reached by a forum moderator or administrator. Email accounts must be updated in your account when a change is required.

The reason is because of spam mostly.

PM me.

Usually every ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives up to 10 email addresses per user. If you don't know how to get one, call them up.

If we have non-free email accounts, but regularly use free ones, should we not be able to change where the emails go to a free one once we've been verified?

maybe they dont keep a record of email addys at time of registration.
and it then allows them to track down bad things

i switched my isp 2 years ago, i hope they aren't sending me anything
it was a bitch to switch my accounts from my isp mail.

i use web based email for all my stuff now.

Heres an idea...before you make another post **click** the *****Search***** button and "search" for what you want to know.

(6) No Web based EMAIL ACCOUNTS (i.e Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc) allowed for forum registration.

IMO, what that really means is that any email provider that causes trouble for the [H] won't be allowed. It just happens that most free webmail accounts cause the most problems, so webmail accounts in general are not allowed because they're often abused.

Even if you access your gmail messages with Thunderbird via pop3, it's still not allowed for registration because it's Gmail. Even if Gmail was no longer web based and you could ONLY access it via pop3 with Thunderbird for example, it still wouldn't be allowed because it's Gmail.

A paid email account that you get with your isp or an email@yoursite.com is recommended. However, if there's a bunch of yoursite.com abuse, that'd be blocked evnentually too.

So, if you like webmail and your isp's or site's mail server supports imap, set up Squirrelmail to access it.

people get banned, re reg with an easy access free mail, and bug kyle, hence bannage of free mail addresses

there are a few people who have offered to hook people uup with email, im not putting out names of course, but its not hard to get a non mass used web, or SMTP/POP3 email...

Gmail became a spammers delight, so it was added to the non-registration filter. There are too many to list, but the idea is to have a member attached to a birck and mortar ISP so you don't have an unlimited number of email accounts to register. Older members may retain their filtered email accounts, but once a change is made in the User CP, the email address is blocked, requiring a new one which passes the filters.

We do keep a record of registration email addresses and a log of every ISP you have ever logged on with on record. This is used to verify returning bans and trouble makers, nothing else.

Oh Noez! UR in my IP stealin my secretz!

(I'm merely suggesting this thread get closed before there are more posts like this ;) )

Dumb rule. All the spam that I get comes from non-web based e-mail, haha.

Here's a great post from kyle bennett telling someone to use GOOGLE to find a free mail service.... not only is that ironic, but in the end, that free mail service would most likely be web based (haha), so, like I said, dumb rule.

A better rule would be:

(6) EMAIL DOMAINS which are banned are.. (list of banned e-mail domain)

Makes more sense and is more specific.

The email services that have been filtered on this forum have been the worst offenders for abuse. We add more to the list as we come across that abuse, so it's always a work in progress. We highly prefer an ISP based email service, one that controls the number of accounts that can be used, but not all web based accounts are filtered.

Thanks for your suggestion, next time we write a new forum rule, we'll check with you first ;)
