why was Killzone so popular?

really I just dont get it. I just tried playing the HD remake of the first game and was bored to death. I figured it was just so old and that the gameplay was just outdated. I gave up after an hour and moved on to Killzone 2 which feels almost the same except not as cheesy. its just not entertaining or engaging at all and I am having to force myself to even play it. also for some reason I can't aim for shit in this game but luckily the AI is brain dead

I only bought a PS3 for the exclusives and after playing the Uncharted games and enjoying those I figured the Killzone series would be great. what a major letdown and I wish I could have my money back. I sure hope Resistance and Infamous are much more entertaining.

Resistance 1 and 2 are very polarising. Most people who hated the first game liked the second more, and vice versa. Resistance 3 is usually seen as a solid conclusion to the series. Infamous is excellent, Infamous 2 was okay until its ending.

thanks. should I push on through Killzone 2 or just move on? I paid 40 bucks for the trilogy so I hate to not get something out of it.

Killzone 2 was terrible. I was very vocal when it came out due to the sluggish controls and dead zone. Ibwas bashed on the Sony forums and the guerrilla community poster denied such a thing. So many idiots on the forums said it was weighty and realistic. I sold the game soon after. And guess what? Later patches confirmed I was right. They made it less sluggish as default.

Killzone 3 was a lot better.

Killzone sold well because it was marketed by Sony as the "Halo killer", despite getting middle-of-the-road reviews across the board.

Killzone was my favourite console-FPS of the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation. I liked being able to choose different characters, the brutal melee kills, the long and enjoyable and not completely-on-rails campaign, and the Helghast. I liked Killzone 2 and really liked 3, but for me the original was the best one.

I never heard a good thing about the first Killzone so never played it. KZ2 is famous for the sluggish controls and deadzone. Can't say I enjoyed it but some people defend it.

Killzone 3 greatly improves over KZ1 and 2. I even enjoy KZ3 online, it's a nice in between mix of both BF3 and CoD.

I had a hell of a lot of fun with KZ2 online, I even went so far as to get into the weekly top 1% for the trophy.

KZ3 was really great too, especially with the move controller.

Killzone 1 wasn't very good, but Killzone 2 and 3 were popular because they were really solid first person shooters with a pretty unique atmosphere and excellent gunplay. The online also offered a decent contrast to the standard CoD/BF stuff.

Killzone 1 was a great game. Very competitive FPS on the PS2. One-shot grenade kills were amazing.

I actually really enjoyed KZ 2 despite having a general aversion to FPS's on consoles.

One of my favorite console FPS games of all time. The original just felt so different. I loved the 'weight' to your character and his/her actions. The environment is one of the best across the whole franchise and the multiplayer was actually rather refreshing.

Too bad the story's ending of 3 sucked big time (IMO).
