• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Why use certain payment methods?

So I'm new here and I have been checking out the FS forum and it seems that a lot of people only take amazon payments or non-cc PayPal. Why is this and doesn't it mean buyers have less protection? Thanks in advance and looking forward to hanging out!

Mostly it's a reaction to how PayPal does business. They almost always side with the buyer in any dispute. It's way too easy for unscrupulous buyers to scam people out of expensive merchandise without any repercussions. Oh and, wrong forum. :)

Sorry about that, which forum should I have posted this in? I was going to in FS but they have a 50 post minimum and I didn't know any other way of asking here. Could a mod move it please (or explain how I can move it)?

If you don't like how someone wants or prefers to do business, then you don't have to do business with them. If you don't like their terms, the same rules apply to any other arena you choose to do business in, you can always take your business elsewhere and buy from someone else.

There's no reason FS/FT would be any different.

There was a time when sellers were hit with more fees for accepting funds from a cc. I think that's no longer the case, though I'm not 100% sure. Where you really get zero protection is when the seller asks you to send a paypal "gift" payment.

I understand, I'm not trying to say I like or dislike it, I have never heard of using amazon as a payment method and I didn't get why people specify non-cc paypal, Magnus explained this perfectly, and it makes sense for trading on public forums. I would also venture to guess I'm not the only person new here and this might help someone else some day, mods can feel free to close this as my question has been answered.
