Why the Difference between BIOS and MMB5 Temps

MMB5 tells me that my idle Temp is 60c, but BIOS shows it @ 52c. Why the big difference :confused:
 
first off, its BIOS and not BOIS. :p

okay, now thats out of the way...

MBM uses Windows to run and the BIOS temp reading does not. therefore I'd trust the BIOS reading more than MBM.
 
Well I've read that BIOS temps will always be 3-5C warmer idle because Windows executes something while it's idling that cools the CPU a bit while being in BIOS executes nothing :D

Well, thats what accounts for the difference. But no motherboard readings are accurate ;)
 
I am concerned with my CPU temps, I run a 3.2E P4 loaded it runs @ 64c according to MMB5, and Gigabyte Easy Tune 5, I was told 65c is the max recomended temp. I even puchased 2 different CPU cooler a Nexus which did not perform any better than the stock Intel HSF with exception to the noise level and, the Thermalright XP-120, it will be arriving this week. If BIOS is more accurate than MMB 5, I would not be as concerned, you can calibrate MMB5. My main question is how do you get accurate CPU temps. I have a temp sensor on my Heat Sink that reports around 42C to the Digi Doc, but if what I have learned is correct this is not an accurate CPU temp.:confused:
 
It depends on your mobo as well. My mobo for example has horrible BIOS temp readings, so MBM5 is what us Neo2 users trust. Look around the net for any examples perhaps of others having the same issue. Be sure your BIOS is up to date as well. If you find others have descrepancies between MBM5 and the BIOS, you'll most likely find out which one to believe.
