Why steam...why?! (Crysis deal)

it's not even a great deal. ive seen Crysis Maximum Edition retail box for $30 many times since launch. ME includes both games.

Yep, I got a copy of Crysis and Crysis Warhead for $10 each during a promotion program at Best Buy. Still haven't played either!

Crysis is well worth $15. i can't say it's the absolute best game i've ever played, but it's good for at least one play through and a lot fun while you're doing it.

the crysis ME has been $40 on steam for a while now... so this isn't much of a deal.

I'm little confused on this so I bought the game just to check(and because I never got around to playing it when it came out.)

I've installed it and launched it. Can't find securom any where on my PC. No mention of it during the install. Either. Was this just a pre-emptive warning on the steam page just in case?

Can someone tell me where Id find securom other than applications data?

Its already to late, We control your computer now, MUH HA HA HA!!

:p

Its a fantastic game and really shows how much farther the PC can push gaming over consoles. It is really a shinning beacon of hope for PC gaming. Unlike some other games....

I must be the only person that hates Crysis, go get COD: Modern Warfare (the first one), its more fun, and won't tax your computer.

I want to buy this have a few questions about the DRM. It says 5 machine limit. Does this mean 5 installs on one machine or 5 different machines with unlimited installs. Also if I need more installs would I call Steam or EA to fix the issue.

Not really. You must have missed the shitstorm of complaints and hate over the game at launch. Now that the hate fad is over, more people are starting to show a bit of appreciation.

The deal sounds pretty good, but I can just log onto my bro's steam account if I wanted to play :D.

5 installs. There is a tool on their website that you can use to deactivate a copy before you delete it. If you go over the limit, you have to call ea and they'll reset your activations back to 5

Wow that's lame. I would think they could get rid of the DRM since it's tied to steam.

IRL installs are "forgotten" by activation server after few months - I know that because I installed Steam version of Crysis at least 8-10 times (have Steam on several PCs)

The install limit is all thats stopping me from grabbin this deal, there have been other threads/posts on getting locked out of being able to install a digital copy of this game. That's a complete disgrace, a DIGITAL copy where you use steam to verify who you are. What a joke.

That confirmed my suspicions. I suspect I'm only gonna install it twice in the next year and even if I can do more it doesn't bother me to log onto EA and deactivate it. I'm still a little weirded out on the securom. I've looked everywhere on my PC and as I recall it usually gives you a notice that it's being installed. Haven't seen it any where. So specifically EA only allows me to have it installed on 5 PC's at a time? Well shucks considering you can't really have steam online on two PC's at one time I'm not bothered in the least by this. It's weird the things people choose to have a fit over.

No, 5 installs total. Not necessarily 5 at a time. Although, it you know about the deautherization tool a head of time, it's not a huge deal
