Ok just a question.... I setup a recording studio. I utilize and outboard mixer. I then go monitor out from the mixer into the computer for recording.... Why not use the soundblaster audigy 2 ZS for this? My friend has an ardvark and is telling me I gotta get one.....

First which specs better the ardvark or the Audigy 2ZS?

Also with the A2ZS I get sound fonts.... Any comments on weather or not soundfonts are good for midi?

hmmm I dont know much about sound..I own a sound blaster audigy 2 zs...and it is great for gaming and casual music..but if ya starting a recording studio..you should be looking into other cards like the rev. 7,,,,hey u sound experts out there!! come give this guy some suggestions...

The thing about the A2 ZS not being ideal for a recording studio lies in its limitations. First of all, most versions of the A2 ZS support 24-bit or 96kHz recording only when used with Creative's bundled MediaSource software bundle; if you use third-party recording software, the recording capability may be limited to 16-bit/48kHz maximum. Secondly, the A2 ZS always resamples anything being recorded at 44.1kHz to 48kHz and then back to 44.1kHz, mangling the bits in the process. In other words, low-end consumer component stereo quality - and far from being even semi-pro quality.
 
Get an EMU 0404. It's a recording card. The Audigy is geard to playing games and watching movies.
 
actually upon further research im using sequia and with KX project drivers using ASIO I get true 24/96. Im using no internal DSP therefore it doesnt resample either...

So as a straight 24/96 with 108db/SN true measure performence by rightmark in my studio how can i beat it?

Rightmark audio shows better response and lower noise then ANY semipro equipment ive looked at
