Why is e6850 running slow?

Hey guys, here are my specs:

680i SLI
4GB 800DDR Ram
e6850 O/c to 3.7ghz at 1.4v
windows xp

Ive installed the driver from evga card for the motherboard. Also installed graphics driver from nvidia. Any other drivers im missing in terms of mobo/cpu/graphics??


Basically ive been benchmarking cpu with different software and so far it seems like my CPU has the same "power" as a e6600

I dont understand. my cpu is running way way faster than an e6600 i dont see why im getting lower cpu scores than it

on a positive note 3dmark06 gave me 11,250 with single 8800GTX, and with SLI 8800GTX i got 15,500

Im guessing thats a good score
 
i know but when i do cpu only benchmarks.. score sucks compared to other lower end cpus
 
What was your OC with E6600? If it was simmilar to what you have now than there wouldnt be big difference.
 
i never had e6600. im just lookin at benchmark scores for other intel core duo cpus..

im running at 3.7ghz, e6850, yet in the benchmarks my cpu ranks lower than e6600,6700,etc at stock.
 
Are you sure you aren't looking at OC'd E6600's? Your chip and an E6600 running 3.7 are identical, so that could be the reason.

That's right there would be less than 2% diff. b/w the 1066 and 1333FSB cpu if they were clocked to the same extent.

To the OP:

What benchmarks are you using ? If you've got a new mobo i suggest you upgrade the BIOS cos that might help.
 
Try running the current version of Sandra and compare your CPU benchmarks to the built in database of results for an E6600. 3DMark scores are full of OC'd results from other CPUs so make sure you are looking at stock results which is not what it shows by default.
 
Which version of XP are you running 32-bit or 64-bit.
If you're running 32-bit try dropping back down to 2gb to see what happens.

And another thing, watch your temps with that cpu. Most of the monitoring programs are miss reporting temps. My E6850 running at 3.6 claims it's running about 15c cooler than my E6600 running at 3.5. TAT says its idling at 7-10c and load with orthos 30-40c.
