I recently downgraded my graphics card so that i can save up for either a 7800GTX or a X1800XT (not in a rush to upgrade will be doing so around Dec-Jan). So i used to have an X850XTPE AGP and a 6600GT AGP in my other computer. Sold my X850XTPE and i am now using my 6600GT and my other comp is not functional atm. Now, with my X850XTPE my Powercolor Theatre 550 PRO tv tuner works flawlessly! now with my 6600GT i get this:

anyway to fix it? im getting angry :( is it suppose to work no matter what graphics card i have?

"Because you touch yourself at night!" Hahahahahaha...

A completely offbase, pointless, and unnecessary comment. You'll have plenty of time to review the [thread=760666]Rules[/thread] before your next post - three days to be precise. Maybe you'll see the part about "mutual respect." See you in three days. - DL

But seriously. Did you uninstall all of the drivers for the ATi card/ATi tuner before putting in the 6600GT? It just seems an awful lot like a driver problem.

yes i did sir :(

Ahh...how peculiar. Okay. Here's my recommendation on what to try. Boot into safe mode. Uninstall all the drivers including the chipset ones, then use DriverCleaner twice. Yes. Twice. I'm superstitious :p.
Then, after a restart, try installing the drivers for the chipset. Restart again. Install the graphics card drivers. Restart. Install the tuner drivers. Restart. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.
It's all I can really suggest, if you started having these problems as soon as you threw in the 6600GT. Either that, or you somehow damaged it as you were removing/moving/inserting it.

Not to be an ass, and with the banning that just happened, I'm most definately not trying to be one, but, maybe you should've checked to see if the 6600 was alright with your machine before selling the x850. Sure, it's too late now, but maybe an idea for the future?

No problem here. There's a big difference between making a suggestion, however simple and obvious it may seem to you, and making a lewd reference. - DL

I am inclined to believe that is this is a driver issue. A thorough driver cleaner run would probably fix it, and reinstalling Windows would almost assuredly fix it.

Questions for the OP:

Have you tried booting to safe mode?
What motherboard are you using?

This is almost certainly a driver issue. Get driver cleaner (google for it) and follow the instructions to get all the old drivers off your system. Then install the latest drivers for all cards involved and give it another shot.

If that doesn't work, I'd try switching your tv tuner around to a different pci slot. As a last ditch effort you can format and reinstall windows...if that doesn't work, you'll likely have to wait for a new driver to fix the issue...

AS FOR THE QUESTION! can you boot into safe mode? mash F8 during startup, and boot into safe mode... uninstall whatever driver it thinks it sees in your device manager. reboot... install new drivers, reboot, yay!

Whoa, mods kinda twitchy today.
