Why does the 9800xt still cost so much?

buying that card was a waste even when it was the fastest. 9800 pro was a much better deal.

now the whole thing is just silly. I wonder how many suckers have bought one at Best Buy thinking they got the best card out.
 
300 bux aint that much, comparing to some stores that sell FX5950 for a price of 6800Ultra! (some slovenian stores)

Those price/card are to baits to FISH out nooby computer graphical users until they know about this website and newegg.com website and guru3d.com website.... and most of all eBay.

evidently people want the 9800 b/c it was popular at one time.

no reason now w/ the 6600's out... they slaughter them.
 
The problem is that retailers know how much they paid for the item & how much money they need to make. Most would rather let it sit on a shelf until it ends up on a clearance rack than actually discount it to a reasonable price.

And also, those retailers know there are always get someone they can suckered into thinking they are buying the most powerful video card on the planet, which was true, like ONE YEAR AGO!
