Why does soundblaster have to make things more difficult?

Was looking on their website since I'm eventually gonna change from 5.1 on my motherboard to a soundcard (despite how good the mobo actually does it). I was wondering why soundblaster has to make their ports all gold in color. Why not just make them color coded to make it easier for everyone? Not a big deal, but make it easier to do everything on the fly.
 
Color coded connecters on motherboards huh?
Ok. My board has three connectors on it.... black, pink, and yellow.
Where does the green speaker jack plug in?

In either case you have to read the manual to know what goes were so why is it a big deal? :p
 
Dunno if its like it on all the cards, I was just looking at the Platinum for the hell of it. ALL of the connectors are gold, not just one.
 
So what your saying is reading a manual is difficult?

Yeah I see your point heh. I just don't see the point in making them gold when they could have made them colors.

And I know about gold plating and all but is it necessary for the rings on the outside too?
 
I think everyones point is how does color coding help when you connect black cables to the sockets on the back? I guess if you had creative speakers too that had color coded cabling and sockets on the speaker side that matched, it would be a good thing, but generally theres so many different speaker systems on the market its impossible to match all of them.
 
i just got a soundblaster audigy2 zs gamer le. it comes with a sticky with the colors on it to place on the back on the ports. That should help you.
 
The connectors do have symbols next to them in case you don't want to look at the manual. They're pretty intuitive. Or you could just remember their positions (I remember how far each is from the firewire port).

Edit: I believe all ZS models come with the color coded sticker if you really want it.
 
Dunno it was just an observation. Doesn't matter much to me, but it isn't as consumer friendly as it could be. Some people don't read the manual (I'm not one of those people).
