why does my time set itself back 2 hours??

hey so theres the deal, i had a computer i built years back, and every couple of days the time would reset it self back 2 hours, but if i left it set back, it wouldnt keep going back 2 more hours, it only does it once. formatted probably 20 times since i built it years back. and its still doing it.

I just built a new rig ( me<-- sucker who spend 2400$ on a comp to play bf2 ), and to my amazement, im finding the brand spankin new comp (which ive formatted a few times since building) is still reseting the time back 2 hours!.

help!? :(
 
You probably have the wrong time zone selected. By default it's set to automatically synchronize the time through the internet every 7 days with whatever time zone is selected.

I think it's GMT -08:00 Pacific by default, so I guess you'd want GMT -06:00 Central or something.
 
windows also looks at your bios to set the time, at least in my experience it has.
i would check the bios to make sure the time is set correctly in there.
 
go to your date and tiem properties and on the internet time tab uncheck the auto synchronize with an internet tmie server.. I have this problem too and forget about unchecking that after I format my system until I come in and the time has changed on me...
 
If you have the correct time zone configured, this shouldn't be a problem. It defaults to GMT -8 (Pacific). I guese that's because that's where MS is located. You need to configure the correct time zone. Eastern is -5. Central is -6. Mountain is -7.
 
I say time zone all the way. Even if you set it in the bios, the time zone will still change it back automatically. How have your reburned 20 times and never seen the step that asks for time zone... :eek:
 
Possible your bios battery is dying? I've seen that happen on a lot of older computers.

Hrm... Let's see..... OP has built two computers in the past with the same exact problem, even after formatting each system several times.

Sounds like a time zone issue to me! :p
