Why does my motherboard set the PEG link width as 1x?

I don't know when it happened, but after putting together a new system with
E6600
P5B Deluxe/WifiAP
7900GT

cpu-z and rivatuner are both showing 1x link width mode selected for the 16X PEG port.Max. Supported still shows as 16x. Does anyone have an idea of what caused this? I remeber back when AGP 8x first came out, I had a similar problem with new 8x cards being set to 4x.

I scaled hardward acceleration all the way back and rebooted and it showed 16x mode. When I put the Hardware acceleration back to full, the mode went back to 1x.

maybe a problem with the BIOS not being matured enough

sounds like a driver issue to me, probably video driver. What version of the nvidia drivers are you using?
