I just installed Office 2007 on this computer.

I need to use Excel but as you can see both my rows and columns are numbers

On my other computer, with 07, it's not like that. It's like it always was.

See how the first box is named R1C1 -- It should be something like A1

What have I messed up?

I thought that was how it worked in Office07. It shows up like that one all 3 of my computers...

Well, on my other computer it's the "old way"

How do I get it back to the old way

Click the orb, goto excel options, then click formulas and in the secnod area under Working with formulas uncheck "R1C1 reference style".

You are using R1C1 cell references. Typically Excel comes in the A1 cell reference, just another way to reference cells (handy in VBA), anyway, to change back, just click the office button then go to excel options. then on the left click forumals, then select the A1 style reference box. Hope that helps

Thanks guys.

What the hell is R1C1 reference style anyways?? I've been using Office since the 97 version and while I NEVER do anything "advanced" I'm curious

R1C1 = Row 1 Column 1. It's just another way to reference cells.
