Why do I keep freezing?

Ok...this is really getting to me. I know this is SFF, but my gosh, what the heck else can I do? I currently have a shuttle system:
Shuttle SB75G2
P4 3.2ghz 512k 800fsb
1gb TwinMos 3700 running 2-3-3-8 at 3200 speeds
1 Western Digital Raptor 36.7 GB 10krpm HD
ATI x800 pro 256mb with the latest non-catlyst drivers
Netgear 108mbps wireless adapter - PCI
TDK 8x DVDRW

I have ALSO installed a fan on the rear grill, cut the grill, put an 80mm fan extender, and a normal 80mm fan blowing out.

Now, this case is nice, very nice. It has the built in mesh on each side, which SHOULD allow more air inside the case. Now, my problem here is ONLY when I play games, well, so far Point Of Exsitence - a mod for Battlefield Vitenam. I know SFF's heat up, my cpu at full load is only at 51-53c, when idle, it calms down to 38-40c. My problem is when I am playing a game, it just freezes. It used to restart, but I turned that off in WINXP pros setting under My Computer(performance...etc). Now, I just took the mesh OFF, allowing for more air to be vamped in, and especially around the video card, it has more intake. Yet, it still wants to freeze up. What the heck is the deal? Is it the 10krpm HD I have? Do I have the wrong video drivers? Is it my VIDEO card that is heating up?

I also talked to the guy who I bought this from. He told me he put some of the Arctic thermal compund, but he said it wasnt the Arctic Silver 7, which he told me to try and reseat the CPU with that on it. I dont have any right now, but I dont think its my CPU, since load temps are only at 52c, or am I wrong. I am used to higher temps because I run an AMD 64bit chip in my other rig. Again, this seems to only be happening while I am playing games. Thanks in advance for your help!
 
Well I'm pretty shure Your problem is not in CPU temp.
I also doubt it has to doo anything with hardware though it might be that grafic card has some problems.

It's important that ICE nd grafic card heatsinks are clean cause dust can make some serious problems.

I belive You have a problem with dirvers. It sound like Your PC needs fresh install of OS and drivers. Also read on support on web pages of a companies that make those games. Often they have FAQ with solutions for many compatibility and drivers related problems.

If I where You I would install that grafic card in other PC and try it there with same drivers. If it also doesn't work then it is grafic card or grafic card drivers related problems.
If it works then it's something related with Your shuttle. I would say XP and drivers related but there is a posibility of faulty hardware.

If other games and programs work normaly I would exlude hardware probles or atleast memory and CPU problems. It could still be a mobo problem. Trying out components in second system You can see what does and what doesn't work correctly.

SB75G2 V3.0 is best SFF for 478 CPUs IMHO. I would like to have that cover to. V3,0 version is also very quiet and has good cooling. I've build few of them and it was allways pleasure working with them. I have never had any problems with them.
Onoy in one system with pasive cooling grafic card although almost complitly exposed grafic card HSF was getting extremly hot. Well on smart fan setting there is not so much air going thru a SB75G atleast to little ot realy have needed airflow over a pasive grafic card heat sink.

Run ATiTool and see how hot the card is getting. If that's not the problem, install the latest CAT drivers. Also check the make sure the heatsink is getting warm because it may not be making good contact. Feel how hot your RAM is, too and see if loosening those timings helps.
 
I would check the temp on your video card. Also if your doing any overclocking on it you might have it set at a level which it can't handle hence the instability (locking up).
 
well, I am not overclocking, and my heatsink on the x800 gets pretty warm
 
You got all the latest updates? Drivers, windows updates, patches for the games your playing? Did you try any kind of software tweaks? Messing around with the pagefile, registry, etc...

What kind of temps is your video card reporting back to you? Is your system hard drive fragged? Just trying to cover alot of things here, and one more question that I have is the only game that your rig locks up on is Battlefield Vietnam, Point of existence mod, or does it do this for all other games too?
 
I've tryed to resist but I can't. If You are freezig turn the heat on :)
