it has been about two weeks since my head has felt very heavy and thanks to tylenol, doesnt ache much but used to.

it is not a lack of sleep as sugegsted by nearly everyone...however, i realized that it was my LCD monitor...

i stopped using my computer for 2 days and my head started feeling slightly better but then I had a lot of work to do so i had to re-use it again. Within an hour, my head felt really heavy and started hurting again. This only happend when i looked at my LCD monitor for prolonged periods of time....

i have since turned my LCD off and work on my CRT and my head feels better..

i have an LG 17" LCD but i have noticed the same problem on my BenQ 15" LCD as well...

why is this? it is getting quite annoying because i need to have my dual monitor setup for all the work I do.

anyone else have the same problem?

Agreed. I think the default setting for most WinXP installations is 60. I've set mine up to 75 about four months ago and headaches haven't been much of an issue since.

LCD's have an infinite refresh while displaying a stale screen, so unless this person's work involves him looking at a constantly changing screen than I doubt that it has anything to do with refresh rates.

LCD's do tend to have a fading problem when being viewed outside their rated veiwing angle. So, maybe, if you're using a dual monitor setup you might be veiwing your LCDs outside their veiwing angle and this is straining your eyes.

I sometimes use a 15" LCD and I can get a headache from it because its native res of 1024x768 is way too small for a 15" screen IMO.

well my refresh rate was set at 75hz since i started using it...

well its good to know im not the only one....

It doesn't matter. As I said above, it only refreshes when there is some kind of change on the screen. You could have a refresh of 10hz on an LCD and it wouldn't give you a headache unless you're gaming or watching movies.

No LCD can refresh 75 times per second (maybe 40, tops). Cranking up the refresh w/ an LCD is like pressing those foolish pedestrian buttons at the stop lights that aren't connected to anything.

I admit that I dont' know what you're profession is but I think that there is a really good chance that your headaches aren't related to the refresh rates.

sry about the rant.

it has nothing to do with 60 or 75 refresh rate on LCD

rather (assuming you don't use some other LCDs without problems) you might be one of the people that don't like neon/fluorescent lights too much (such as myself - had to dump my LCD after 2 weeks)

you can take a look in this thread: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=802360
