Why creative

Why can't Creative Labs release decent, complete drivers? And why can't they support standard headphone/mic connectors?

I should've made a poll.

1) Incompetence

2) Laziness due to lack of competition

3) I'm crazy and these are ridiculous expectactations of $100+ dedicated sound cards.

I agree. Looks like the new X-Fi still does not have a proper Digital out connector, but uses a mini jack instead of an RCA connection.

I have some hope after that last paragraph that some other company will use the new xi-fi chips and do a better job and have lower prices.

Isn't it actually kind of clever to use a mini-jack rather than RCA out? You can adapt the jack to multiple applications. All you need is a mini-jack to RCA converter....

I think the point is that that could degrade audio quality. EVERY receiver uses a full RCA coaxial in for digital, and digital coaxial is a standard for audio, but with that goofy connector essentially the only products it supports is other Creative products that use it... which in essence is stupid.
