Why can't my XP machines see my Vista machines shared folders?

So I just reformatted after getting a new mobo, and set up all the network setting on Vista just like I had them preformat.

My 2 XP machines can print to the shared printer just fine and can see public folders just fine, but my storage HDD that I have shared, and that shows as shared in "Computer" and shows as shared on the XP machines gives an error about not having permission to access it when I click on it on one of the XP machines....what gives?!?!?!?!

and password protected sharing is turned off, so what have I missed here

I had the same problem when I moved to Vista. I believe the solution was to give "Guest" users permission on the Vista shares. I think that is what worked for me.
