Why buy Celeron D when 2.4A is less?

Why is Celeron D so highly priced? The 2.4A has 4X (!) the L2 cache, overclocks better, and is a Prescott core, not a half-ass celeron?

You don't like it, then don't buy it. :)

Actually, I think the Celeron D's are the Prescott-based celerons (they have 90 nm cores), but yeah, less cache. Don't know about the price difference though.

The performance of the Prescott Celeron D is 20-40% better than an equivalently clocked Northwood based Celeron. It has a 533MHz FSB, twice the L1 & twice the L2 cache.

The ONLY difference between a 2.4A Prescott & a Celeron D (2.4G) is the L2 cache (1M vs 256K)

As for price, in Australia the Celeron D 2.4G is the equivalent of $81 USD, while the 2.4A Prescott is around $135 USD, so the price for the Celeron D is much cheaper. If you are refering to a 2.8G Celeron D, then the price is a bit high.

The 2.66 Celeron D is a good overclocker (made in Malaysia). Mine easily OCs to 3.6G(+35%). The 2.4G Celeron D overclocks to about 3G (+25%, made in Phillipines).

My 2.4A Prescott overclocks to 3.4G (+41%, made in Phillipines).

from the benchmarks ive seen a celeron d overclocked to about 3.6-3.7ghz is about as fast as a p4@@3.2
