Why are the processor sections seperate?

I always thought it would be better to have the processor sections like the motherboard and video card sections. One main for everything and then two sub sections for each side. The reason I bring this up is that if you go to the intel or amd section and you try to compare the processors of both sides you end with people telling you this is an amd/intel only section if you want to discuss the other side go that section. I think we need a combined section so that processors can be compared without people telling you not to bring up the other side.

Always wondered why it was split unlike the video card/motherboard?

You mean like that :

Processors main
.....|
.....- Intel
.....- AMD
.....- Others

The only reason against this might be the extra moderating work but it's a nice idea since there is a lot of ppl who post to ask which is better, which doesn't always fit in the sub-categories due to the bias (Intel : C2D is better, screw the rest ! and AMD : Ph3n0m 1s g0dly !!!).

^^^ You could do that but then you end up with many people posting in the main forum about specific processors just because it gets more views.

Renaming the Via forum was a good move.

It would be scary having amd and intel on the same link..... Imagine the flames that would follow. I think it would be funny to watch, but not fun to moderate.

It works out somewhat well in the gaming section. The mods do have to come in every once in a while and yell at everyone about using subforums, but all in all people tend to post in the right area.

How is that any different than what happens now? You even mention amd/intel in the same thread you get flames in either subforum.

perhaps a unified processes forum with STRICT rules i mean come on we are not a bunch of 2 year olds here i am sure amd/intel people can be civil if not have a punishment structure setup for flaming/thread crapping
