Why are PriceChecks not allowed?

Why are Pricechecks not allowed, I ask because there is a certin item I am thinking of selling (not trading like my current items) but due to its rareity (its a comon item, but due to its nature and verson that it is, it is highly sought after/very little around) I don't know its TRUE value. Well just wondering why, thanks in advance :)

what is it? i usually check going rates for a brand new item and then take 10-20 off the price if the item has been used or type a selling price with OBO behind it.
 
Whats OBO mean? Sorry I'm new to the whole trading thing, while I have read the rules and tried to follow them best I can I still don't know all the termenolagy lol

Also, check buy-it-now prices on e-bay and then look at completed auctions to see what bidded ones end for
 
USUALLY, Ebay prices are decent, but you'll get a few price gougers that will up the price if it's a scarce item at the time. But as was said, you can get a fairly accurate price for items if you look around various sites and compare.
 
One of the reasons I've heard is that it keeps the bazillionty people that post stats of their leet rig as a price check to get kudos and show off.

I read other tech forums that allow price checks and 50% of their posts are just that. Very sad.
