Got my venice 3000+ and an msi neo2 platinum this weekend, i really dont like 1.8ghz cause 1.8 is a bad number and its not whole. Decided it would be best to put it up to 2.0 rather then down to 1.5, except my processor will only go down but not up. I adjust the fsb which then raises my ddr speed to whatever the fsb is at, then my the overall speed falls to like 1.2ghz or something. I tried messing with the voltage but that didnt move the speed up, only allowed me to adjust the fsb higher which sent the overall lower. Went to set the HT frequency? (not sure what that is exactly) set that to 5x but that didnt help either.
I read through all the ocing facts on hardforums but none of them talk about what happens when you go down in ghz rather then up
(This is about overclocking so wasnt sure whether to put it in the amd proc area or here)

Went through matched the stuff as he describes it, adjusting the ht and the fsb stuff but still i cant get over 1.8. I adjusted the ht along with the fsb and ended up with a 230mhz ddr speed and 920mhz on the processor  that also included slight voltage increases

Set your HT multipler lower not higher, 3x.

Wow, you're a fruitcake.
Whole numbers are a way of life no in between like my stereo i have to set to a number that divides into five so i usually set it to 15 cause i cant use 12, 13 or 18 itunes i dont know the number so i set itunes at what is comfortable

Whatever i just hate the sight and feeling of looking at like 13 18 or 21
Thanks Protoform-X set that to 3x adjusted the voltage got a cool 2.1ghz after somehow ending up down at 800mhz when i first tried to set it. Although since i have crosair value select im partially worried about upping the ddr speed, maybe ill just throw on some copper ram sinks and call it good
:)

o man thats perfectionism at its worst lol

hm as for not being able to overclock make sure you set your ram on a divider when overclocking the proc just to make sure it doesnt interfere

Ram divider, i need to better understand this cause i only partially got it from the eclispe oc'ing post

It means setting your ram to a lower speed. i.e. use 166 Mhz instead of 200 Mhz. That's all there is to it.

2.1 eh? When's the last time that was a whole number . . . :D

Set the ram at a lower speed also along with the ht, and im working on getting it to exactaly 2000mhz

rofl, hate to break it to u buddy but uhhhh.....u cant actually hit exactly 2000mhz lol. ohhhhh nvm i was wrong. set your multiplier to 8, and your htt at 250. perfect 2000mhz. other wise ud be at 1998 (9x222)

ya but now your ram, htt, fsb ect... are not going to be whole numbers, see you should of goten a x-2 3800 that was you have 2 2.0 chips running at 10 muti with 200 mhz ram, all whole numbers right ???

read the guide again, i don't think you quite understand the steps that i tried to walk people through..

basically, you want to find the max speed of each part with the others removed from the equation so that there is no ambiguousness in with regards to the part that is causing instability (read: no more "is it the ram, cpu or mobo topping out????" questions)

Sorry but yea at first i didnt get what it meant but now yes after going through your supreme guide Cf i get how to oc my A64
