Why all the obsession with IPS panels?

Rainbow streaks were evident only on older models with a spinning color wheel, the last generation DLPs made by Samsung with LED back-lighting, did not have any rainbows, and best of all Stereoscopic 3D gaming works at 1080P 60HZ input, unlike LCDs that are limited at 30Hz.

So you won't see any ghosting in your 3D games.

IPS panels are overrated but they are still the best alternative for Windows and casual gaming.

Within a few years time higher end IPS monitors probably will be replaced by OLED.

If I can, I purchase IPS over TN but since im colorblind its sort of pointless. The dell u2312hm is pretty cheap though

Well, the cPVA panel in the Samsung F2380mx can make it hard to go back to a lcd panel with a lower contrast BUT the IPS panels handle motion much better IMHO. Below are pics of my Samsung F2380MX with the Anti Glare removed.

I would say as good as the F2380mx looks, the local dimming lcds still have better contrast and motion handling. The bonus of the F2380MX is low input lag and great contrast. The monitor referenced in the first post have AG filter? I found removing that on the f2380mx made a huge difference in clarity and color and contrast.

The uniformity on the F2380mx is the best I have ever seen on a monitor.

i'm a die hard IPS user, but i think there's definitely more room in the market for VA panels. i think the lack of discussion about them has had more to do with limited availability than with their relative merits.
