ive tried everything :( downloading drivers, getting the drivers from whs, creating a new restore cd for pp3. nic has no leds at this point so i guess its not installing the drivers for it. in windows it works fine.

what if I go buy another nic for this? whs is connectable because in windows I can connect to it.

can if all else fails can i try this hard drive in another pc and image it that way? are we able to pick which drive?

google for the X:\Files edition of whs and try that (it has a repacked boot cd)

ok i managed to google that which lead me to a driverpack. that worked ok. but i get an error something about whs refresh wizard could not be refreshed, this might be due to an out dated restore cd or your server could be damaged.

it allows me to continue, but the restore is about 10mins long. because the whs is old, it should really take about 12hrs to push the image back.

yikes! ive tried both a pp1 and pp3 restore cd. i will try the link you posted, but untill then any thing i should try?

Yes, you can always hook up the hard drive to another PC with WHS installed. Just be sure that you point set the restore drives correctly.

Here is the location of the WHS restore client
C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\clientrestorewizard.exe

ok, so this is what ive done. ive taken a different pc all together, and tried a different "backup". i still got the same error, but it transfered data because it took about 3 hrs to complete, and rebooted. it said ntldboot something missing. i dual booted this image so, somehow the bootini got screwed up. so far whs isnt proving to be a winner :)

anyway, im sure thats fixable. so i took that same pc and tried restoring the first backup ive tried before. and well, its still going, but it looks like its going to take "11mins" to complete. something is wrong here, as this image is just as big as the other one so it should take just as long.

any ideas?

i think once i get done using this extra pc, im going to setup a clonezilla server on it.......
