So lets say I add a folder with 4 files inside (pictures) to the server from my desktop. Once the folder is transfered and i right click on properties it says 5 files and the folder size is larger than on my desktop. why is this? I disabled shadow copies. When I transfer the same folder back, it remains at 5 files. The 5th file is invisible. It does now show up when "show hidden files" is on. What is this 5th file? And how do I prevent this from happening?
 
Did you try to unhide operating system files? It could also be thumbs.db but I doubt it.
 
View hidden files - probaby added is the hidden thumbs.db file.
