Whose expectations weres surpassed with G0?

As the thread title asks, who here received a Q6600 G0 stepping and had their expectations surpassed by the actual performance of the CPU.

I personally was execting the Quad G0 to match the overclockability of a standard decent Dual Core overclocking CPU. Never in my dreams did I expect 3.6ghz at 1.39v, nor did I even expect to see a Core 2 running at 3.2ghz undervolted to 1.26v loading at 48C (unlapped) after hours of small FFT Quad Prime stress testing. Maybe I got a better example of this CPU, but my few attempts at overclocking with Core 2 Duos never yielded such excellent results.

Were your expectations surpassed? Explain how or how not!
 
i got mine to work to where i wanted. The highest OC that i felt comfrotagble with was 8x425 which is 3.4ghz with 1.4 volts. I normally run it at 9x333 which is 3ghz with 1.275 volts.
 
My expectations were far surpassed with the B3 stepping that I got. Considering I paid much cheaper than a G0 would have been. It runs at 333x9 (3GHz) at 1.25v with the memory running in 1:1 with 4 sticks. It is completely prime stable, and I have it set so the Tuniq Tower never goes above 1000rpm (can't even hear it) and the temps don't go any higher than 61C for the hottest core.
 
Mine definitely were... I run 3195MHz with 1.2V - I keep voltage at stock 1.2375V so EIST&C1E work, the only thing I don't like about Gigabyte boards. The moment you change the CPU voltage in the bios, the idle voltage is unnecessarily high. I was hoping for 3GHz at 1.2V loaded when I got the chip - but 3.2GHz?! Compared to older chips I used, I had an E6600 that needed about 1.26V load to run 3GHz, an E4300 that needed 1.34V load to run 3.15GHz, and a B3 Q6600 that also needed about 1.25V to run 3GHz. The G0 I got was clearly a whole step above all of those chips.

Dethred I also noticed we have the same stepping Q6600 G0 chip from the O/C database - I think we hit jackpot with that one. :D

This G0 chip is going to stay with me for a long time.
 
I guess it's all about luck
I bought my Q6600 from NCIX (a couple of days after the price drop, so it was a crap shoot at the time)
I was lucky enough to get a G0, however my vid is 1.3125v (which is the highest vid for G0's I've seen on the net)
along w/ my 4x1G ram setup, I wasn't able to get too much out of my G0 w/ relatively low vcore
finally settled for 370x9 @1.44v vcore in BIOS (can't complain too much tho, well...maybe a little bit)
 
I am actually stunned at my chip. 3.6Ghz with 1.36vcore and 4Ghz prime stable :eek:

Waiting to get a new mobo and see what it really has :D
 
Both my chips basically did what I expected a G0 to do:

(1) Run at 3GHz on the stock HSF and voltages
(2) Get 3.3-3.4GHz with less than 1.35V using a non-stock HSF


One of my chips also hit a secondary goal and thus can be said to have exceed my expectations:

(3) Small FFT stable at 3.6GHz at the limit of 1.5V while still under air


Overall they didn't smash expectations, but performed well.
 
Yup, I was happy with mine. 3,200 Mhz at stock Voltage. 3,465 Mhz Prime Stable @ 1.40 vcore. Both were achieved on standard air cooling. Unfortunately I am not one of the real lucky ones, haven't been able to hit a stable 3,600 MHZ yet even though I switched over to water cooling.

All in all I'm still real happy with mine :D
 
3.5 @1.48 (bios setting) 100% prime stable. I guess that's about what i expected. Doesnt "feel" any difference from my E6400 @3.4. It's probably going to have the 'shortest' time as my main cpu cuz the .45nm is coming so soon. Going to be in my 'kiddie' computer in a few months.
 
I just tested for lowest voltage possible with stability at 3.2ghz and I am at 1.18v@3.2ghz. Haven't tried for lower, but I might be pushing my luck. My E6400s needed 1.45 and 1.575 bios volts for 3.2ghz respectively. On water the CPU is idling at Celsius 27-27-31-31 and loading at Celsius 40-40-45-45 with 79F ambient.
