MattParrish said:Personally, the price isn't the real issue right now. It's the availability. The manufacturerers sorely misjudged the demand for the new cards. When is the last time you can remember that there was as big a jump of performance in a single generation of video cards as we see now? They apparently misjudged the number of die-hards who would want one and want it NOW! regardless of their current card.
Of course, by playing the "extremely limited supply" game they are really giving us hard-ons for the cards. And we keep touting all the benefits and features of the new gen cards (saving them much advertising $) drawing in more people...who start jonesing for the card themselves and end up posting in forums like these, pulling in more people....you get the drift.. So ATI and NVIDIA actually benefit from short supplying us for a while.
(excuse me if i run on, i work nights , am tired and going to bed in a sec)
People are jumping on the "blame the card makers" band wagon. But thats not where the issue lies at the moment. Its the GDDR3 supplies. The makers of this memory are the root of the problem.
